DOT DRUG TESTING COLLECTOR TRAINING
What is a Drug Testing Collector?
A DOT urine specimen collector is the trained professional who works directly with the donor during the specimen collection process. The collector guides the donor through the collection, maintains the security and integrity of the specimen, properly completes the required documentation, prepares the specimen for laboratory testing, and follows federal DOT collection procedures.
This is much more than simply handing someone a specimen cup. Collectors must understand proper procedures, paperwork, chain of custody, specimen security, problem collections, and how to prevent errors that could affect a drug test.
What will the training cover?
Training includes instruction on DOT collection procedures, the Federal Custody and Control Form (CCF), collector responsibilities, specimen handling and security, common collection problems, shy bladder procedures, observed and monitored collections when applicable, preventing fatal and correctable flaws, and required proficiency demonstrations.
Individuals must successfully complete the applicable qualification training and required proficiency demonstrations before performing DOT urine specimen collections.

This training may be appropriate for individuals interested in working as drug testing collectors, mobile collectors, collection-site personnel, occupational health professionals, staffing or safety professionals, or entrepreneurs interested in entering the drug and alcohol testing industry.
Refresher Requirement
DOT-qualified urine specimen collectors are required to complete refresher training no less frequently than every five years to maintain their qualification.

BREATH ALCOHOL TECHNICIAN (BAT) TRAINING
What is a Breath Alcohol Technician?
A Breath Alcohol Technician, commonly called a BAT, is a trained professional who conducts DOT breath alcohol testing using an approved evidential breath testing device.
The BAT works directly with the employee being tested, explains the testing process, operates the breath-testing equipment, completes the required Alcohol Testing Form, protects the integrity and privacy of the testing process, and properly documents the test result.
What will the training cover?
BAT training includes DOT alcohol testing procedures, proper completion of the Alcohol Testing Form, operation of the applicable breath-testing equipment, screening and confirmation testing procedures, testing-site requirements, employee privacy, preventing testing errors, and required proficiency demonstrations.
For DOT testing, BAT qualification includes training to proficiency on the particular testing device(s) the technician will use and successful completion of the required error-free mock tests.

This training may be appropriate for individuals interested in working in occupational testing, mobile drug and alcohol testing, workplace safety and compliance, collection sites, or individuals interested in expanding their professional testing services.

DOT-qualified Breath Alcohol Technicians must complete refresher training no less frequently than every five years to maintain their qualification.
ALREADY TRAINED BUT NEED A BRUSH-UP?
Collector Mini Refresher / Brush-Up Course
This course is designed for individuals who have already completed collector training but may feel rusty, have not performed collections recently, or simply want additional review.
The course reviews areas such as paperwork, collection procedures, common mistakes, problem scenarios, and questions collectors may encounter in the field.
IMPORTANT: This Mini Refresher / Brush-Up Course is NOT the required five-year DOT refresher training and does NOT reset or extend an individual’s five-year qualification period.
Please include a section where current Mini Refresher availability and pricing can be updated as needed.
